Ted, A Gardner and Artist

Stella passed on her artistic talent to her children. Teddy became an artist working in many different medias: painting, wood work, metal sculptures, and masonry. The entire grounds around the house is his canvas. His palate and paints are plants, seeds, metal, rocks, slate, wood, soil, and water; his brush is his crafty hands.

Ted’s Flower Gardens

Ted’s immense organic garden of vegetables helps sustains Stella’s 101 years.

Every day when the garden is in bloom, she and her son have the salad of greens from the garden: arugula, dandelion greens, basil, three kinds of mint, fennel, sage, oregano, chives, scallions, parsley, dill...  She washes and eats them with a dressing- all keeping her young and active.

Oh! Sweet Jesus, I wipe Your tears

You shed for my misdeeds.

Dear Jesus, I desire to be with Thee

For all eternity!

If we don’t get rain down in the south

We’re going to suffer a heck of a drought.

No food will come forth up to the north.

No money will pay,

No amount will be enough!

"O blood of mine! O overbrimming grace
Of God! For whom was ever heaven’s gate
Thrown open twice, as it has been for you? “

In 40 years of medical practice, I have found only two types of non-pharmaceutical “therapy” to be vitally important for patients with chronic neurological diseases: music and gardens.”...

“I cannot say exactly how nature exerts its calming and organizing effects on our brains, but I have seen in my patients the restorative and healing powers of nature and gardens, even for those who are deeply disabled neurologically. In many cases, gardens and nature are more powerful than any medication.”

How to Prevent, Stop , Reverse Memory Loss &    Dementia

Dr. Will MItchell

“Get out and walk every day. Swim. Play tennis. Ride a bike. Use the gym. Hundreds of studies have shown that aerobic exercises improve many aspects of cognitive function -- memory, decision-making, problem solving, and attention.

Weight training is valuable, too. Research has shown that resistance exercises, even if performed just once or twice a week, will improve your cognitive function.

And the great thing about that is you can use small weights at home -- such as 2, 3, and 5 pounders. No gym needed!...”

When Stella was young, she and her sisters joined the Polish Athletic Club. Her sisters sewed authentic Polish dancing costumes for themselves and danced  a Polish Dance.  Stella in the meantime did acrobatics.

During Intermission at the Metro Stella jumped on stage and volunteered to entertain the audience with her acrobatics.
