What Is Life

Time is a joy, a dream, a sorrow

You take it and mold it in your

hands for tomorrow.

Slowly the day unfolds like pages in a book.

When you come to your final chapter

Your destiny appears.

Written by Stella

June 16, 2018 month shy of her 102nd birthday Stella fell and received a hair-line fracture in her right femur. She was hospitalized and then moved to Carillon Nursing Home where she did volunteer work for 34 years.

As Stella sat in her chair at Carillon Nursing Home she told me about life. She recited from memory a poem she wrote years ago What is Life .

My greatest gift to God would be

To give Him back

The things He gave me.

Stella had showered and washed her own hair. She also does the dishes. When ever one admires her agility she says that it is God working through her.

She continues to visit her friend Phyllis at the nursing home.

No Time at All

You see my years before Thee

Long or short

I do not know,

No matter, the times are here.

Our Destiny

-author unknown (taken from Stella’s book of reflections indicating her disposition and reflective thoughts.)

Life is short and death is sure

The hour of death remains obscure.

A soul you have, an only one

If that be lost, all hope is gone

Waste not time, while time shall last

For after death, tis ever past

All seeing God your Judge will be

And heaven or hell your destiny.

Fr. Paul greets Stella after Mass on

Gaudete Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018

After Mass Stella said that she was going to rub her hand all over her body and won’t wash that  hand for a week- the hand that shook the Bishop’s hand.

Bishop Barrens greeted Stella

before Mass on Gaudete Sunday,

Dec. 16, 2018

When Stella was told how she keeps

looking younger she replied,

“ I have two mirrors in the house.

One tells me that I look pretty good.

One tells me how it is.

I don’t believe either one.”

12/30/18 Words of Wisdom to 9 year-old Matias:

“Obey your parents; take your vitamins. One day we will all meet in Heaven but with

different bodies.” (She moved her arm around to include all those around her.)
